When we created Sunset, there were not really any expansion plans beyond SA:MP but in the past few months since the V2 release, we have seen both the flourishment of the server but also the growth of a highly skilled and determined development team in all aspects - including bot development, web development and server development. This has led to many of the unique features that we all know and love on the SA:MP server.
We think that we have the capacity for growth, and it has been deliberated for the past few weeks about whether it is possible. This idea was conceptualised with a few of us wanting to play Minecraft but not having any real server where we thought it was worth spending our time - especially as we enjoyed playing as part of the community here and it is hard to discern good from bad in a saturated server environment.
We aren’t sure how well this is going to go - it is a completely different environment and much more competitive than SA:MP. Only time will tell.
This announcement is being made because we prematurely released the IP on voting sites without providing any info to the rest of the community (oops…), so there’s a bit of confusion. We expect to release soon, but we’ll keep you updated here.
